Job Location: Melville, NY 

Salary: $37.00 - $52.40 /hr DoE

Responsibilities

Perform various quality related functions within the organization’s quality program to develop, apply and maintain quality requirements for processing components and other materials into finished product.

  • Drive process improvements throughout our organization.
  • Implements established methods and procedures for testing and inspecting the quality level of products and production equipment.
  • Analyzes failure reports and returned products and report corrective action to customers.
  • Prepares and maintains defect trend analysis reports.
  • May be required to witness in-plant testing of electronic equipment in accordance with an approved test procedure.
  • Inspects a variety of complex electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical items for workmanship acceptability as well as complex and precision mechanical parts and assemblies for acceptability by using a variety of tools, gages, and basic shop math.
  • Records results of inspections in the MRP system and prepares inspection reports, identifying approved and rejected quantities.
  • Instructs and trains employees in processes or methods in accordance with departmental procedures, practices and/or process sheets.
  • Be responsible for performing source inspections and reducing the variability of purchased materials through strong leadership and continual improvement of supplier quality planning processes.
  • Maintains quality standards by approving in-process production, and finished products and recording quality results.
  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, and alloys conducting visual and measurement tests, rejecting, and returning unacceptable materials. Establish and maintains a vendor/outsource database. Manages all non-conforming materials.
  • Perform internal quality audits and external supplier quality audits.
  • Maintains a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.

Qualifications

  • 7 years experience in quality control inspection with electronic components as well as Quality Assurance/Manufacturing experience including SMT high reliability electronics in a
  • High School diploma or ASQ-CE certification or equivalent experience required, Associate degree preferred.
  • J-STD-001 and IPC-610 knowledge and/or certifications required.
  • Must have experience in the use of inspection tools (i.e., microscopes, micrometers, calipers, height gage and scales).
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and 5S is a plus.
  • Excellent communications skills, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
