Responsibilities

Independently selects, evaluates and applies standard engineering practices and procedures to achieve specific objectives. Performs basic design, research and development under the supervision of more senior engineers.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participates in the overall detailed design of hardware, software or processes related to microwave products and manufacturing equipment.
  • Recognizes design and manufacturing problems and errors and takes or recommends corrective action.
  • Design hardware, circuits, components or tooling for constructing prototypes and proving the feasibility of the design or manufacturing processes being investigated.
  • Resolves manufacturing problems on products by initiating corrective action plans and procedures and ensuring that root cause solutions are found.
  • Monitors manufacturing techniques and organizes efforts to reduce costs, improve yields and reduce scrap.
  • Gains competency in evaluating environmental conditions such as shock, vibration, temperature, etc.; analyzes equipment to establish test and operating conditions for conducting experimental tests.
  • Participates in the preparation of proposals for new programs, which may lead to new products or processes; organizes and assists senior engineers in developing programs and plans for development projects.
  • Utilizes all organizations within the facility to carry out engineering responsibilities.
  • Directs other engineers and technical support personnel as required.
  • Participates in preparing cost estimates for assigned projects.
  • Continues to develop a high level of technical competency through individual training, membership in technical societies and relationships with other individuals in the microwave or manufacturing process community.
  • Achieves a high level of competency using CAD and other related software tools. May also utilize other manufacturing techniques such as Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments and Demand Flow technology to improve products or processes.
  • Establishes technical dialogue with customers under the direction of Sales & Marketing to ensure that the customer’s design specifications are met and that his requirements will be satisfied.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics or other related technical disciplines and at least two (2) years of experience; or an equivalent combination of technical education such as a MS degree and related experience.
