Job Title: Production Inspector

Internal Job Title: Inspector EDD Products

Job Location: Torrance, CA

Salary Range: $21.50/hr - $23.50/hr DoE

Responsibilities

  • This job primarily includes but is not limited to visual inspection, solder inspection, documentation review, mechanical measuring & part identification.
  • Perform inspection per IPC J-STD-001 of SMT components & mechanical parts on subassemblies, assemblies and end products using microscope and hand inspection tools.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to ensure proper assembly, dimensions and perform Final Inspection of hardware to ensure compliance with drawing.
  • Verifies work performed in accordance with routing sheets, specifications, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Prepare accurate discrepancy documents and inspection reports and maintain inspection data.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience, preferably in quality workmanship inspections of electronic and mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience in IPC J-STD-001 & Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling controls and performing solder inspection of circuit board assemblies.
  • Must have experience in the use of inspection tools (i.e., microscopes, micrometers, calipers, height gage and scales).
  • Demonstrated ability to work from blueprints, drawings, engineering documents, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Must be able to determine hardware compliance through the use of specifications and instructions.
  • Ability to lift packages weighing up to 35 pounds.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good communication skills and the ability to articulate aerospace hardware and systems problems to technical professionals to initiate resolutions
  • Experience reading and interpreting design drawings and CAD models
  • Substantial knowledge of the control of nonconforming hardware
  • Knowledgeable with ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Experience inspecting solder, crimping, conformal coating, staking, and surface mounted devices accordance with NASA 8739 and/or IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 standards
  • Wire harness experience in accordance with NASA-STD-8739.3 and 8739.4 and/or IPC-A-620 standards
  • Experience with performing electronic testing and inspection using portable measuring devices
  • Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP)   and related programs
  • Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic, be innovative, detail oriented, possess initiative, and team oriented
