Job Title: Senior Manager, Program Management

Location: Torrance, CA (Onsite)

Salary: $160,000-$240,000/yr

 

Stellant Systems currently has an opening for an onsite Program Director at our Torrance, California location.  In this position, you will lead matrixed, multidisciplinary teams in the development and production of traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs) for commercial and DoD customers.

 

The Program Director provides overall leadership for development and production programs that require a good understanding of the technical aspects, manufacturing and business operations.  It leads cross-functional teams (IPT) and evaluates deliverables for technical correctness and program consistency.  You will develop and implement methods to achieve cost and schedule reductions, performance enhancements, and new concepts for follow-on future business.  The Program Director ensures coordination between the division and customers while championing continuous improvement efforts on the program.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for program profit, schedule, and technical performance
  • Utilize Earned Value Management (EVM) to status programs
  • Lead risk and opportunity management for assigned programs
  • Coordinate with business management and functional management to ensure that workload, staffing plans, work processes, and procedures are aligned
  • Manage programs through all phases, from proposal preparation and submission, contract negotiation, baseline, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, qualification, validation, production, and delivery
  • Prepare and present detailed program review packages to senior management and customers
  • This is a hands-on position.  You will direct and work together with the IPT to achieve both program and enterprise cost and schedule goals.
  • Single Point of Contact for all programmatic internal and customer communications
  • Participate in new business proposals, project projections, and analysis of requirements

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline, MBA preferred
  • Ten+ years of program management experience in Aerospace or Defense Industry
    • Aerospace and Defense experience required.
    • Experience with space manufacturing processes and procedures is preferred
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement is required
  • Experience in financial analysis
  • Experience in leading teams
  • Current security clearance is preferred
  • Program management certification or equivalent preferred 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of high-reliability space or defense hardware requirements and RF component design, production, and testing
  • Knowledge of earned value, cost, and schedule management and supplier-related issues and activities 
  • Engineering knowledge to coordinate technical portions of proposals, statements of work, and contract specifications
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to successfully direct, motivate, and influence a team using a combination of technical knowledge, teamwork, and people management skills
  • Ability to successfully manage a wide range and various volume of activity
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to succinctly address complex issues and action plans with program team, peers, senior management, and customers
  • Ability to perform financial analysis on the program including EAC, ETC, ROS 
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance
  • Ability to listen and respond effectively to customer concerns
  • Ability to lead multi-discipline teams
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Ability to coach others
  • Well-developed organizational skills
  • Ability to apply analysis skills to problems
