Job Location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $180,000-$230,000/yr

Focus will be on the primary responsibilities of developing people, leading a high-performing team and driving continuous and sustainable improvement in operating metrics (safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost and lead time) within the Torrance facility. Results will be accomplished through the use of a data driven approach to achieve process standardization and the application of lean manufacturing and operations methodologies. This role interfaces cross-functionally across the Stellant Systems organization and will coordinate with Program Management, Finance, Mission Assurance/Quality, Supply Chain, Production Planning, Manufacturing Engineering and Test Engineering functions.

 

The ideal candidate will have an Aerospace/Defense pedigree and background. They will be a passionate, lean transformation champion with demonstrated success driving a “from scratch” transformation (both process and culture) and the ability to train the organization while simultaneously driving quantifiable improvement in operating metrics. The abilities to lead the establishment of production flow lines and manage in a dynamic environment are vital.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding fiscal year revenue plans.
  • Recommends and monitors productivity improvement goals.
  • Develops, maintains, and drives Operations Metrics (KPI’s) to ensure the Torrance Business Unit’s objectives are met, i.e. On-Time Delivery, Scrap, Product Yield, Profitability, etc.
  • Developing cross-functional relationships in the organization that support a “one team” approach to operational execution across the business.
  • Works cross functionally to maintain the Sales & Operations Plan (S&OP) including the Master Production Schedule.
  • Works with supply chain to eliminate material shortages to ensure performance to the S&OP.
  • Defines and recommends objectives/goals for each functional area under your responsibility and presents performance against these goals to Executive Management
  • Reviews, monitors, and approves cost control reports, estimates labor and facility requirements.
  • Responsible for meeting manufacturing operations fiscal year overhead budgets.
  • Established and maintains a highly capable management team for each department and monitors their performance against Business Unit goals.
  • Develops plans for new manufacturing technology to increase divisional efficiency and profitability.
  • Responsible for justifying, initiating, tracking, and completing all Capital Projects.
  • Works with the CI team instituting an environment of continuous improvement through the implementation of Kaizen Teams and Lean Manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

  • BS Engineering/Science/Math with MS or MBA preferred.
  • 10 – 15 years manufacturing experience in Aerospace/Defense industry, Vacuum Device or Microwave Component industry experience preferred.
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in management/leadership position with the ability to manage, motivate, and retain key personnel.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with MRP driven manufacturing operations, i.e. INFOR, SAP, JD Edwards, Deltek, etc. 
  • Demonstrated computer skills:  MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
