Overview

Job Title: Machinist 

Job Location: Melville, NY 

Salary: $35.00-$40.00/hr 

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate bench and machine tools including lathe, milling machine, drill press, grinder, etc., to produce precision parts, tools and fixtures from drawings, sketches, and operation sheets. Should have experience with manual and automated machinery such as CNC – Haas
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, using shop mathematics.
  • Work to extremely close tolerances using all types of machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Determine types of machines and sequence of operations to be utilized in each operation.
  • Select proper cutting tools for each operation and is responsible for grinding such tools.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to check work and obtain desired tolerances such as micrometers, vernier calipers and measurement scales.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience or associates degree with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in general machine shop work with a thorough knowledge of machine practice, tooling and set ups and properties of metals and plastics required.
  • Haas CNC machinery experience
  • Edgecam software
  • Excellent communications skills, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
