Job Title: Sr. Production Supervisor 2nd Shift 

Job location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $90,000-$110,000/yr

 

We currently have an opportunity for a 2nd shift Sr Production Supervisor to lead a highly skilled manufacturing group at our Torrance, California location.  In this position, you will be responsible for the high-quality assembly and test of precision Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) vacuum electronic components for commercial and government satellite applications; this requires meeting extremely high manufacturing standards with challenging lead times and cost considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Management and training of hourly employees
  • Supporting development and implementation of Lean process improvement plans
  • Providing accurate production status updates to Operations management, Program Management, Engineering, and downstream production areas.
  • Ensure all work is completed on time and to specification
  • Responsible for mentoring, leading and supervising employees
  • Supervise the production flow within their respective areas and ensure safety and the efficiency of the entire shop floor
  • Assess the work performance of employees against clearly established expectations and identify areas that need improvement (provide documented coaching where necessary)
  • Work with technicians, manufacturing engineers, test engineers and quality teams to resolve reoccurring nonconformance issues
  • Ensure that business goals, deadlines and performance standards are met
  • Coordinate with engineering and other departments to minimize production interruptions
  • Schedule risk identification and mitigation
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and design engineers for development teardowns
  • Perform root cause analysis and the implementation of corresponding corrective action plans
  • Reduction of downtime for product and personnel
  • Lead efforts to transition products from engineering development to full rate production
  • Review work instructions to ensure shop floor tech’s have accurate and complete instructions and if necessary, recommend changes
  • Meet tight production schedules to achieve high-rate production
  • Train and onboard newly hired employees to make sure they understand their roles
  • Drive shop floor culture, enforce systems and corporate policies
  • Develop, initiating, coordinating, and enforcing system policies, and procedures
  • Monitor labor hours and overtime, and implement improvement plans and strong time management with staff
  • Capacity planning of equipment and personnel
  • Conduct stand-up meetings with employees and management of area metrics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment or 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment - preferably with manufacturing and testing of precision RF and electronic products.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills are necessary, with previous supervisory experience highly preferred.
  • Must be able to interpret detailed engineering drawings and associated assembly instructions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Previous experience working in a RF test environment.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems, such as Infor LN, is a plus.
  • Experience in a union environment is beneficial.
  • Lean manufacturing training and experience is a plus.
  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment
  • Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy
  • Safety training and/or safety certifications
  • Experience monitoring, tracking and continually improving the total cost equation
  • Experience with applying lean manufacturing principles, efficiency methods
  • Experience solving manufacturing problems related to incapable processes and or designs
  • Demonstrated record of high-performance
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance
