Overview

Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician - Vacuum Systems

Job Location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $30.00-$40.00/hr 

 

Troubleshoots,  maintains repairs,  modifies, fabricates, tests,  and calibrates high vacuum systems, vacuum support equipment, related systems; subsystems, controls, and mechanisms that are contained in  a vacuum envelope.   May work where specifications  and design details are not complete.   Applies electro-mechanical principles to maintain equipment used in  the  material  processing and manufacture of electron tubes,  electron  devices,  semi• conductor products, laser optics and other products.

Responsibilities

 

Typical duties and requirements are not meant to be all encompassing but a general framework of requirements/responsibilities for:

  • Works from blueprints, sketches, work orders, engineering and manufacturing specifications, manuals, oral and written instructions.
  • Performs periodic inspection of high vacuum systems, and vacuum support equipment for maintenance requirements. Make special investigations to prevent breakdowns, operational failure or non-conformance with specifications.
  • Determines sequence and methods to use when repairing, assembling, installing and testing vacuum stations and support equipment. Determines material requirements and prepares fabrications and processing requests as required.
  • Performs maintenance work for the repair, calibration, modification,  or fabrication of thin film deposition  systems;  electron  beam  welders,  ion  implant  equipment,  freon  backfill  stations, vacfire,  environmental vacuum stations,  mass spectrometer leak detectors,  Vac-lon bake-out boxes and  stations,  vacuum encapsulation chambers,  vacuum welding stations,  mechanical roughing  pumps,  absorption  pumping  stations,  cryogenic  pumps,  turbo  molecular  pumps, diffusion pumps, Vac-lon pumps, and other vacuum systems or support equipment.
  • May conduct tests using standard and specially designed equipment to resolve minor design problems.
  • Performs chemical makeup and mixing of chemical solutions required to meet proper cleaning procedures as outlined in engineering or manufacturing specifications.
  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on vacuum systems and other types of equipment as assigned or required.
  • May provide assistance to personnel in lower-related job classifications.
  • Performs incidental related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a maintenance technician
  • 5+ years’ experience with electronic and mechanical assembly, soldering, brazing, die attach, wedge-wedge bonding and gap welding.
  • Basic understanding of vacuum, electrical, hydraulic and other systems
  • General knowledge of repair and troubleshooting of CNC Machinery
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
  • Strong electrical skills working with 24 vDC – 480 vAC
  • Familiarity with PLC’s/HMI’s
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
