Job Title: Design Specialist

Job Location: Torrance, CA
Salary: $115,000-$130,000/yr DOE

Stellant Systems currently has an opportunity for an onsite Design Specialist at our Torrance, California site.  

• Create CAD models and engineering drawings of products and tools with dimension schemes using GD&T.
• Collaborate with engineering team to develop new products to design specifications, industry and military standards, design for manufacturing concepts, and continuous improvement objectives.
• Independently design tooling solutions for the efficient manufacture of traveling wave tubes and electronics.
• Lead assigned design projects by proactively collecting required information and using sound judgment to make decisions with minimal oversight.
• Make drawing/model changes authorized by Engineering Change Notices.
• Check the accuracy of other mechanical designer’s work.

• Associate’s degree and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience, OR bachelor’s degree and minimum 6 years relevant experience, OR graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years relevant experience.  Additional years of relevant experience may be used in lieu of education.
• Advanced experience with enterprise level CAD software (e.g., Creo, Siemens NX, CATIA).
• Proficient in the use of GD&T to layout dimension schemes, including but not limited to thoughtful datum feature application, hole pattern true positions with modifiers, MMB, runout, flatness, profile and parallelism applications.
• Strong ability to use Microsoft Office products.
• Strong ability to communicate and articulate design concepts both verbally and in presentations and emails.

Desired Skills

• Creo and Windchill experience preferred.
• Familiarity with traveling wave tubes or vacuum tube technology.
• Familiarity with space design standards and design for manufacturing.
• Senior level checker experience.
