Overview

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Location: Williamsport, PA

 

This position requires a self-motivated, chemistry-fluent individual who can apply knowledge of chemistry to procedures used in a manufacturing environment. They will develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, manufacturing processes, assembly methods and quality control standards. In addition to proficient laboratory skills this position requires analytical thinking, problem solving, and attention to detail. Also, the chemist would require effective team communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage operations of the cleaning & plating laboratory and ensure required chemical analyses are completed as stipulated.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies and order chemical supplies & related appurtenances as needed for the cleaning & plating shop floor.
  • Develop and maintain metallization mixes and other necessary related metallization chemistry needs.
  • Keep up-to-date on industry laboratory standards and maintain related knowledge.
  • Research and test potential new processes as product needs change.
  • Identify and recommend cost savings to supervisor.
  • Support existing manufacturing operations when required.
  • Alert production and process engineering when upsets encountered; work with production and process engineering to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Update procedures as needed.
  • Comprehend, communicate and ensure compliance with all applicable manufacturing and environmental health and safety procedures in cleaning/plating area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Required understanding of chemical principles and proficiency with skill, and accurate use of instrumentation for conducting experiments and analysis.
