Overview

Job Title: Power Processing Unit Design Engineer (Part-Time)

Job Location: Torrance, CA
Salary: $150-$250/hr DOE

 

Stellant is excited to offer a part-time Senior Power Processing Unit (PPU) Design Engineer position at out Torrance facility.  Stellant’s PPUs support space borne ion thruster operation, over 100 operational units in orbit. This role will be primarily tasked with supporting new development and providing EEE component guidance.

Responsibilities

  • High voltage power supply circuit design.
  • Testing and troubleshooting of circuits.
  • Supporting customer meetings, milestones (CDR, PDR, MRR …) and guiding the team through those events.
  • Mentor, develop and train engineers.
  • Actively seek out innovative technologies and oversee new product development to ensure continued industry leadership.
  • Support new business activity through proposal review and improvements on current designs

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree in a related field, EE preferred, with post graduate work a plus.
  • 12 years’ experience designing and testing electronic power conditioners or other similar power supplies, with work in the space industry a massive plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in senior engineering role.
  • Understanding and comfort with EE design aspects such circuit design, electric stress analysis, worst case analysis, single event upset and others.
  • Proficient with of circuit design tools a plus
  • Proven record in leading and growing an engineering team and running development projects.
  • Hands on engineering experience with PPUs or other high voltage products a nice to have.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, utilizing industry-standard root cause corrective action (RCCA) methodologies.
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications is necessary
