Overview

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager 

Job Location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $150,000-$185,000/yr DOE

 

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to manage manufacturing engineering department at our Torrance, California location.  In this position, you will provide leadership and coordination throughout all aspects of manufacturing engineering and interface with management and specialists from other functional disciplines, serving as the principal point of contact for internal customer organizations. 

Responsibilities

  • Establishing workload priorities to ensure that company requirements are met
  • Streamlining and standardizing work processes to achieve greater effectiveness and efficiency
  • Providing ongoing guidance to staff, with accountability for employee development, employee performance reviews, and balancing of the department's skill base
  • Providing information regarding workload status, schedules, and quality metrics via written reports and presentations

Qualifications

Must hold a BS or higher in a relevant engineering or technical discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent). Minimum of 5 years of management experience supporting electrical and/or mechanical manufacturing processes. Other qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient with schematics and circuit diagrams, engineering drawings, BOM and indentured parts lists.
  • Requires the ability to work in a fast-moving environment under tight schedules and coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
  • Must be able to perform technical problem-solving and work closely with production personnel.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Knowledge of joining processes, such as brazing and welding preferred.
  • Knowledge of PCBA/SMT manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of assembly processes, tooling, and print reading (GD&T) are preferred.
  • Knowledge of bills of material, routings and assembly instruction development are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to capture and analyze data related to yield and cycle time is required.
  • Working knowledge of ERP / MRP in a manufacturing environment desired.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Must have the ability to direct, advise, and influence staff members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and well-developed listening skills are required to deal effectively with a diverse audience and a large number of projects.
