Job Title: Facilities Technician 

Job Location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $31.50-$37.00/hr DOE

We currently have an opportunity for a Commercial Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic at our Torrance, California location.  Work consists of Installing, maintaining, overhauling, servicing, operating, and repairing plant air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems, gas-fired heating equipment, thermal test chambers and other refrigerated lab equipment. 

• Works from blueprints, manufacturer's drawings, sketches, specifications, installation layouts, process standards, ordinances, codes, written or verbal instructions to obtain locations, tolerances, adjustments, settings, and safety standards.
• Determines the repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent possible breakdowns or major overhaul of equipment. 
• Defines when equipment should be shut down to accomplish major overhaul. 
• Makes complete installation of air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration systems and gas-fired heating equipment. 
• Checks, balances, calibrates, adjusts, and modifies systems and equipment after installation or overhaul. 
• Maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, and overhauls complete systems involving work on A/C compressors, exhaust fans, bearings, valves, condensers, thermostats, oil pumps, thermocouples, and other mechanical parts. 
• Charges system with refrigerants, and checks and tests for leaks.
• Uses charts, tables, and graphs to determine proper setting of refrigerant expansion valves, back pressure valves, and capillary tube feed for all types of refrigerants used in various systems. 
• Performs modifications and rework wherein the operations are essentially the same as required for the work described above. 
• Maintains a log or record of gauge readings and other operating data. 
• Performs incidental related duties as required.

• A high school diploma or equivalent is needed, with additional trade school or other relevant certifications highly preferred.
• 5 years of experience in Commercial Air Conditioning and Refrigeration systems.
• Experience with pneumatic A/C systems and air volume controls.
• Cascade refrigeration system experience desired.
• EPA certification preferred.
