Overview

Job Title: Machinist

Job Location: Melville, NY (100% onsite)
Salary: $31.00-$36.00/hr DOE

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate bench and machine tools including lathe, milling machine, drill press, grinder, etc., to produce precision parts, tools and fixtures from drawings, sketches, and operation sheets.
  • Must have experience with manual and automated machinery such as CNC – Haas
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, using shop mathematics.
  • Work to extremely close tolerances using all types of machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Determine types of machines and sequence of operations to be utilized in each operation.
  • Select proper cutting tools for each operation and is responsible for grinding such tools.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to check work and obtain desired tolerances such as micrometers, vernier calipers and measurement scales.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma with a minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience or associates degree with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in general machine shop
  • Thorough knowledge of machine practice, tooling and set ups and properties of metals and plastics required.
  • Haas CNC machinery experience
  • Mastercam software a plus (not required)
