Overview

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer 

Job Location: Williamsport, PA 

 

Provides manufacturing floor support for the production of high- and low-voltage satellite power supplies, electronic power conditioners, traveling wave tube amplifiers, and other aerospace products.  Responsible for resolving production problems.  Incumbents in this classification typically perform less complex tasks and assignments in a specific phase of manufacturing and possess a basic understanding of manufacturing engineering and production activities acquired through advance education.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes sequence of operations that affects production performance and tooling concepts.
  • Supports activity within define/product/supplier teams (i.e. make-buy activity).
  • Assists in identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Implements the overall manufacturing plan and design changes affecting the plan.
  • Responsible for the coordination and technical direction of specific phases of manufacturing   programs.
  • Analyzes engineering drawings, machine processes, equipment capabilities, operator machine compatibility, and recommends engineering changes to improve production, alleviate manufacturing difficulties, and promote cost reductions.
  • Responsible for the incorporation of engineering changes through all phases of manufacturing.
  • Reviews work flow, work station layout, economic lot size, and manufacturing lead time, and makes changes as appropriate.
  • Develops complete set-back schedule of manufacturing, establishing completion date for all functions.
  • Develops basic manufacturing configuration as required.
  • Determines planning and tooling needed to meet contract requirements.
  • Monitors progress and initiates changes and corrective action as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, industrial, or materials and processes engineering.
  • Knowledge of space electronics processes, soldering, bonding, encapsulation, crimping, and unit assembly.
  • Manufacturing engineering the interrelationship of production activities.
