Overview

Job Title: Component Engineer

Job Location: Melville, NY (100% oniste)

Salary: $100,000-$130,000/yr DOE

 

The Component Engineer is responsible for the technical management, qualification, selection, and lifecycle support of components and hardware. This role works closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and suppliers to ensure components meet applicable design, performance, reliability, quality, cost, meet delivery needs as well as regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Select, evaluate, and approve components and materials for new and existing programs.
  • Develop and maintain component specifications, approved vendor lists, and technical documentation including system component item master. Review component drawings, datasheets, specifications, and engineering requirements.
  • Perform component qualification, validation, and technical assessments.
  • Lead and or support root-cause investigations and resolution of component-related failures or non-conformances. Work with suppliers to address technical issues, quality concerns, and obsolescence.
  • Support engineering changes, substitutions, alternate components, lifecycle management and drive to resolutions. (Including PCN’s and GIDEP notifications)
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Quality to resolve production and field issues.
  • Ensure component selections comply with applicable standards, customer requirements, and company procedures. Maintain accurate engineering records, reports, and configuration documentation.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Master’s degree in Engineering a plus.
  • 4 to 6 years of engineering manufacturing experience in aerospace, defense, aviation, or a related industry.
  • Experience/Knowledge of military, commercial, and international standards for aerospace/electrical components, hardware, materials, or electronic/mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Costpoint MRP, PLM, and engineering document-management systems.
  • Mentor PADS, Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD a plus.
